For the next three newsletters, beginning with this issue, I will highlight one of the three paintings that will be shown at the Florence Biennale in December of this year.

This month I begin with "Circle of Life". Many of you have seen this painting in person and know that it is about by my Mom's passing. It is one of my all time favorites and will remain forever in my personal collection. I am thrilled that the Biennale selection committee wants to show this painting in the catalog. It makes me feel very good because it honors not only me but my Mom.

Florence Biennale
Florence, Italy

I am thrilled and honored to say that my work has been chosen for showing in the sixth edition of the Florence Biennale in Florence, Italy. It will take place December 1-9, 2007 in the historical Fortezza da Basso. In 2001 The United Nations recognized the Florence Biennale as an official partner in the program "Dialogue Among Nations". The artists of the Biennale, despite their differences of language and faith, found a common language in art to communicate their cultural values, illustrating Kofi Annan's statement: "Art opens new doors for learning, understanding, and peace among people and nations".

Very Grand Opening!
Thank you very much to all of you who came from near and far to celebrate the opening of my new gallery. It was beyond my wildest expectations. I wish the staff photographer (my husband, Sam) would have been able to capture everyone, but he was as busy and overwhelmed as I was. My friend Sherry also captured some of the event. Thank you both for an excellent job.

I wish I had a photo of each and every one of you. Please know that I will always remember you, the evening, the conversations, although brief or non-existent in some cases, the music and the amazing energy in my new studio and gallery. WOW!

Recently, we did a class on collage. My students were so happy with the process and results they suggested making containers for their collages. Here is Linda's collage and container titled "On Beauty". She is already working on her second piece. I think she's a collage artist, wouldn't you agree?
